We are pleased to announce the Second Annual Bridgeville Library Sculpture Exhibition. This exhibition is being produced through a civic partnership of the Bridgeville Public Library (Bill & Grace McDivitt Center for Lifelong Learning), Public Art Bridgeville, and the Pittsburgh Society of Sculptors.
The Bridgeville Public Library has graciously agreed to make non-traditional artwork display areas both inside and outside the library available for an exciting and engaging show that celebrates the sculptural, architectural, and literary arts. Teaming with Public Art Bridgeville and supported by the Borough of Bridgeville, the community is excited about making its buildings, parks, and sidewalks available for the display and enjoyment of the arts. This juried show will include large outdoor sculptures and indoor work, both tabletop and wall sculptures.
The library is located at 505 McMillen Street. It is just minutes from I-79 and one block East of Washington Avenue. If you’re a visitor to Bridgeville and haven’t yet seen the Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, consider checking that exhibition out while you’re in town for the Library Show!
About the Public Art BRIDGEVILLE Project – a Public/Private Cultural Initiative:
Public art can celebrate both the history and the future of a community. It adds beauty and interest to the area’s built environment. It honors and memorializes those that have and/or continue to work to keep the community vibrant and attractive to residents and visitors.
There is an existing inventory of fine art, graphic art, and graffiti art in Bridgeville – an inventory that speaks to an interest in the arts of Bridgeville’s residents, NFPs, and business/building owners as a way to beautify, memorialize, and attract people to their location and this community.
The group of residents who provided input and assistance for this program ranges from those whose families have been in this community for decades to residents who are new to Bridgeville.
The goal of the Public Art BRIDGEVILLE Project is to celebrate, expand and promote the arts in Bridgeville.
